Sarah and James met when both were cast in Broward Stage Door Theater’s production of Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah, a fun, campy musical based on the work of Allan Sherman. In between musical parodies, lightening-speed quick changes, and a sombrero dance number, love was born! Sarah recalls sitting backstage one day during rehearsal listening to James sing “One Hippopotami,” a goofy ballad about finding your partner in life. Sarah hoped that one day she would be lucky enough to find a love just like that. Little did she know then, the man of her dreams was right in front of her, wailing about hippos and pants.
For his part, James got a glimpse of the future on his very first day in Florida. A knock came at the door, and waiting for him on the other side was Sarah’s stunning smile. This time around, Sarah was only interested in borrowing the company van keys, but James was already looking forward to seeing that smile again. Eventually James did get the chance to kneel down to the woman he wants to hold and cherish for the rest of his life. It came in the form of a dinner invite. As dinner drew to a close, James held out his hand to Sarah, inviting her to dance. He began to sing “One Hippopotami,” and Sarah picked up the duet. The two of them slow danced in the middle of the living room, singing the silliest love song ever written. When they finished the song, James asked Sarah, “Can you put up with my silliness for the rest of your life?” “Of course,” Sarah replied with a laugh, but when James got down on one knee, her laughter quickly turned to tears of joy as James asked Sarah if she would marry him. As the pictures here shows- the answer was yes =)
From the very first meeting, through the engagement shoot and eventually the wedding; James and Sarah has been a real pleasure to work with. Both professional actors, they taught us a few things about posing and looking natural during a shoot instead of it happening the other way around! In this beautiful wedding at the Liberty House (located inside Liberty State Park in Jersey City), we utilized the afternoon light and glorious NYC backdrop to its fullest, playing with and mixing artificial light with natural light.
Sarah – may you keep James transfixed with that infectiously upbeat smile you have. All the best in this marriage thing; we know you will rock it!
